St. Cloud Window Inc. and San Antonio Airport complete acoustic treatment of 500th home in Texas 02/19/2010
SAN ANTONIO, TX- Central Minnesota-based window manufacturer, St.Cloud Window Inc. provided acoustic products for the 500th home in the San Antonio TX Residential Treatment program for airport noise abatement.
The occasion was landmarked by a celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan 25 2010 at the home of Elizabeth Sirianni, located at 13111 Vista Del La Laguna, in the Vista Del Norte subdivision of San Antonio. Casey Mahon, Vice President of St.Cloud Window Inc. was in attendance along with representatives from the City of San Antonio and program partner THC Inc.
The program, launched in July 2006 is designed to make neighborhoods located near the airport more compatible with airport noise by providing acoustical improvements to eligible homes, including window and door installations. The result is a drop in noise level of at least 5 decibels, comparable to doubling the distance of an aircraft flying overhead.
Funding for the program is a result of a partnership between the airport and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA provides 80% of the funding, while the remaining 20% is provided through the use of airport-generated funds. No San Antonio tax dollars are used to fund the program.
St.Cloud Window equipped the residence with windows from the company’s 900 Series product line. These windows are specifically designed to act as an acoustic sound buffer to drastically lower the sound transmission from exterior to interior. The products themselves have a wide array of applications for commercial construction projects, including hotels and residences located in urban areas, and are used nation wide in Airport Noise program analogous to the program in San Antonio.
